Hiking trail: Helnæs

The most beautiful peninsula

Go hiking on Helnæs

About Helnæs

Helnæs is a fantastic natural peninsula with stunning sea views and impressive landscapes.

As you drive along the narrow road to Helnæs, you are greeted by an impressive landscape. The Helnæs peninsula covers 13 km2 or 1,312 ha, and it is an incredibly beautiful area to visit.

Bird and Plant Life

Helnæs has many natural habitats and is therefore home to a variety of plants, birds, insects, and butterflies.

On the heath, Bobakkerne, and the meadow, Maden, you can experience protected plants such as sea holly and marsh orchid. On a summer day, you might encounter Denmark's three swallow species: barn swallow, house martin, and sand martin. In winter, thousands of geese rest on Maden - unless the sea eagle is on the hunt.

Audio Guide for the Hike

For an extra experience, you can take nature guide Christian Heller from Assens Municipality with you on the tour through his audio guide, which is part of the podcast series "Natur til tiden".

  • Feddet is not on Helnæs itself but just a stone's throw away - on the mainland just north of the peninsula, before you reach the road to Helnæs.
